The average life expectancy of a hot water tank is 10 to 15 years, so if your tank falls within that range, it’s likely nearing the end of its life. You’ll want to keep a close eye on your tank for signs of leaking, which can lead to major damage in your home. We have seen many tanks start leaking from the bottom and in some cases, have caused minor and major basement flooding. We do see many tanks older than the range that are still functioning, but many are filled with sediment and have lost much of their heating capacity. You can take 20 showers in a row, and the water remains hot! Tankless units take up less space than traditional water heaters, so if you’re performing a renovation or need some extra space, these units are the ideal choice. For on-demand tankless water heaters, we recommend Noritz, model EZ111 or Rinnai. We also repair all brands including Navian, Takagi, AO Smith and others. Standard parts warranty on the Noritz is five years parts and 12-years on the heat exchanger. Our standard labour warranty is one year but can be upgraded to five or even ten years parts and labour for a super-low price. Government rebates are available to help cover the cost of replacing your old hot water tank with a new tankless on-demand unit. We’re an approved Alberta installer for the rebate program and can help you submit all the necessary paperwork.
